4725mag's daily fashion essentials: rules were meant to be broken - how to transition your summer whites through fall and beyond

I think we all know the "don't wear white after Labor Day" cliché is an old fashioned and out of date statement. However, there is still the task of merging the lighter colors and fabrics of summer with the heavier layers and colors of fall to skillfully master before you can totally disregard it.

Here is our two step guide to help you strike that balance and extend the lifecycle of your summer staples, because turning white denim into to a fall favorite shouldn't be a daunting task.

1. Experiment with tops that bridge seasons:

This is an excuse for some pattern play! This vintage, button-up back blouse - that we've had for years but can't part with - mixes a bright, summer appropriate royal blue, fall/winter friendly black and season agnostic white making it a versatile all seasons top.

And in this particular look that we wore today, it bridges the gap between and balances our white summer denim and heavier, black leather jacket nicely.

Keep your accessories and outwear pattern free and neutral:

Minimal, neutral and clean is our aesthetic of choice - we LOVE a solid basic with a subtle design twist like these black leather sandals and bag. Sandals shown in a different look here.

For us, this approach to our accessories grounds our look on most days, but works extra well here at playing down the summery nature of our white denim.
